Christmas Comes Early: 4 Films Win 6 Awards
The past month turned out to be an exciting one on the awards circuit with four projects I edited winning a total of six awards between them.
Orlando von Einsiedel’s Virunga continued its considerable awards haul with the prestigious Grierson Award for Best Cinema Documentary and an Environmental Media Association (EMA) award for Best Documentary.
Michelle Coomber’s political documentary Generation Next scooped a Gold Award at the Oregon Film Awards and a short documentary she directed, Flo, made for The Health Foundation and produced by Simon Chinn’s Oscar-winning production company Lightbox, won Best Commission and Best Film of the Year at the Haelo Film Awards.
Meanwhile Kate Reid’s beautifully textured cinematography on Debs Paterson’s short biopic Nazi Boots won the award for Best Cinematography at the Underwire Film Festival.
