Drama News: French premiere, BBC launch and a best short film award!
The Witching Hour, a short film I wrote and directed for the Finnish national broadcaster Yle, had its French festival premiere at the 38th Grenoble Short Film Festival. We had the pleasure of closing the festival with our film, which was played in a sold out cinema screening as well as at a wonderful outdoor screening for nearly a thousand cinema goers.
In drama edit news Rachna Suri’s Playing Ball, which was made for the BBC’s ‘Original Drama Shorts’, has been launched on the BBC iPlayer to critical acclaim including ‘Pick of the Day’ in The Sunday Times. The Independent on Sunday writes: “The BBC is back with a new bunch of shorts from a selection of rising-star writers and directors. Pick of the bunch is this black comedy written by Selina Lim and directed by Rachna Suri.”
Amelia Hashemi’s directorial debut Don’t Blame Us Cos’ We’re Famous! picked up the Best Short Film award at the East End Film Festival. The film is produced by Olivier Kaempfer from Parkville Pictures and stars Paul Brannigan (The Angels’ Share, Under the Skin) and Juliet Oldfield (Bronson, The Knot).
